neonatal OT can shape so much of that early bonding and development period. hope you get a strong response, especially from families whose experiences were a few years back and can reflect with hindsight.

Hello Iโ€™m a perinatal / children and families OT

Hey all,

Is anyone else here in a similar role to me โฌ†๏ธ .

Support for children & families is so overlapping and needed that Iโ€™ve recently turned to private practice. Mostly to serve parents carers and surrogates in need of queer and neurodivergent affirming support.

If anyone else is doing something like this or maybe even something a little different - please reach out to me on social or here. Iโ€™m OT Intuition On FB. :) The Intuitive OT Collective

Participants needed!

For my MSc pre-registration occupational therapy dissertation I am exploring OTs experiences of using video conferencing to deliver services to children and young people.

If you:

  • Are a HCPC registered OT

  • Have used video conferencing to deliver OT services to children and young people in the UK

I would really like to hear about your experiences in an online survey.

This is a really important topic, especially after how much remote therapy has grown in recent years. I hope you get good participation from OTs who have hands on experience with this. Wishing you success with your dissertation.

Participants needed!

Are you a UK based paediatric OT who has delivered services using MS Teams or similar online platforms? If so, I would love to hear about your experiences.

I am a MSc Occupational Therapy student at the University of Winchester and am interested in exploring practitionersโ€™ experiences of using telehealth to deliver interventions to children and their families. As an increasing number of healthcare services are delivered online, your input will shed light on practitionersโ€™ experiences of this shift.

If you are interested in finding out more about this study or sharing your experiences with me in an interview, please email me at:ย b.crouch.24@unimail.winchester.ac.uk

This study has received approval from the University of Winchester Ethics committee (ref. HWB-OT-0825BC).

Thank you so much for your time.

Improving Sensory Processing through Dance

Hello, everyone! My name is Imani, and I am a second-year occupational therapy doctoral student. As part of my capstone project, I am exploring the role of dance/movement therapy in pediatric therapy as a sensory integration tool to improve sensory processing, executive function, and social cohesion among children with sensory imbalance conditions, such as autism spectrum disorder (ASD) or sensory processing disorder (SPD). If you are a pediatric therapist, I would appreciate any insight into current sensory-based interventions used in practice and how dance can be considered as an alternative therapy form to improve outcomes and self-regulation for children with sensory sensitivities. Thank you!ย

Postural Control and smartphones

Hi there,

As an OT who works in the peadiatric field, the using of smartphones is increasing in children and I observe that it affects postural control. I found this journal from Brazil, and very eye-opening for me as an OT.

Insightful observation @Tia Aja - and thanks for the journal link! From your perspective, is the effect on core postural control (from hips), or more neck/scapula shifts? We'll raise your post with fellow Members shortly.

Sleep and Sensory Processing

As one of the areas of occupational performance, sleep is the last area we pay attention to. Dr. Jamie Chaves, OTD, OTR/L, SWC talks about sleep and it relation with sensory processing here in this article.

Please share your personal experience as an OT who works with peadiatric about it.
