Improving Sensory Processing through Dance

Hello, everyone! My name is Imani, and I am a second-year occupational therapy doctoral student. As part of my capstone project, I am exploring the role of dance/movement therapy in pediatric therapy as a sensory integration tool to improve sensory processing, executive function, and social cohesion among children with sensory imbalance conditions, such as autism spectrum disorder (ASD) or sensory processing disorder (SPD). If you are a pediatric therapist, I would appreciate any insight into current sensory-based interventions used in practice and how dance can be considered as an alternative therapy form to improve outcomes and self-regulation for children with sensory sensitivities. Thank you!
