Are there other OTs working in the field of gender dysphoria?
I am currently working in a gender identity service in the south west and would like to find out if anyone is using certain outcome measures for use of OT in this area. I think this could be helpful in demonstrating that there is a need for an OT role in all gender identity clinics
Hi Erin. After this post was shared on the Hub's social networks, a few people responded there directly. So here's a handful of the comments, shared on their behalf:
"Very interested to hear about your role. I have a 25 year old trans daughter, 2 years into her transition" (Julie, Facebook).
"If you like, I would gladly give my experience, as in Finland's second Transgender clinic’s OT. I did evals for our psych doc referrals, who wanted evals and assesssement about clients' 'Real Life abilities and skills', for the becoming surgical operations." You can Teams me or we can arrange some other ways to connect more efficiently (Virve, Facebook). Virve also passed on her email address, for you to get in touch with her: virve.viljanen@hus.fi.
"Omg no way! I did my presentation to get into my MSc OT course on the role of OT in trans health and social care; would love to hear about your work!" (Lou, Facebook)
"We did use GAS goals for a while... That was in a paediatric /schools service arena... and we did consider using this in therapeutic group settings, but C-19 put the breaks on building up any significant use of this, in a UK setting" (Allison, Facebook).
I've encouraged them to visit your forum directly, but can always reach back out on social media if you wanted to get in touch with any of them! Jamie
