Hi,
I thought I would start this 'Circle' to connect with other OT who consider themsleves "neurodivegent" - and as language is a tricky thing, what I mean by this is consider themselves outside the currently accepted "typical","normal" or "dominant" neurotype. I personally use it is a very broad manner, including mental health differences, trauma, brain injury and developmental conditions - but also understand there are many schools of thought about the topic.
My view point is I beleive in a social model of disability, so these difference in the ways our brains are wired mean we are diverse in our needs and our abilities -but an accepting society that strived to cater for all would minimise any "disability" and maximise any strengths - levelling out the experience of all - including "neurotypical" brains.
I am no expert on neurodiversity or the language, which I think is a mindfield! But I want to keep talking and learning from others to expand my understanding, tackle abelism, promote acceptance and improve my ability to communicate on the topic.
I have a diagnosis of ADHD, inattentive type. I am undiagnosed autistic. I have experienced Truama with a bit T.
I would love to hear other peoples thoughts on language, on ableism, or how to manage in the work place (I have muddled through life and built my own strategies - one of my biggest "issues" these days is whether I share my neurotype with colleagues and associates. On how to support clients... anything really! :)

Thank you for creating this OT Circle @Danni Swaithe - there's already a lot of interest in it! We would suggest you update/personalise the 'About' section.
We see you've created a 'Private' OT Circle, meaning you as Admin need to admit prospective members. Are you happy for us to promote the Circle to the Hub's following, or do you want to keep it closed to those you invite?
