Stair lift risk assessment

Here in Glasgow, Scotland, we are reviewing our stairlift practice and guidelines. We currently have a checklist we use to ensure we have considered all areas of risk in use of the stairlift and added any mitigations. However I would be keen to see if anyone has a specific risk assessment tool for prescription of stairlifts, in particular where there might be concerns for use of the lift alongside manual handling equipment for assisting transfers.
Also, I wondered if anyone could advise of any incidents they may be aware of when using manual handling equipment when transferring to and from a stairlift?

Hi @kirstnich. I'm passing on some feedback to your question, from locum Occupational Therapist Dorel Bondar, via LinkedIn... "You will need to develop a:
Risk Matrix, for continuing with current situation, and assess each risk against the likelihood of an incident occurring and should it happen the severity of the consequences.
Risk score and action taken; how you will minimise the risk in short term as well as long term.
The type of the stair lift (hinges, type of track - curved vs straight, seating options, location of the track left-right, etc); look for clues that might put the client at risk, such as cognitive/sensory/behavioural/medication/alcohol or drugs-use issues. The stair lift manufacture should be able to support you with a proper risk assessment form." Hope this helps a bit! Jamie
