Hi! I’ve been asked to start using Twitter to promote the OT service I work for to help with recruitment and also to develop a better social network. I was wondering what types of things people would expect to see from an OT service on Twitter? And what might appeal to if looking for a job? I work for a community mental health team.
Thanks! ☺️
Hi @Victoria. My initial thoughts would be to search for similar services to yours on Twitter, then see what kind of content they are promoting. It would help you see what's getting traction and what's not.
You've had a number of Hub followers reply to your forum, but within social media comments, rather than here. I'm sharing them here for ease of reference:
Liana (on the Hub's Facebook page): "Any activities by the service users, promoting engagement, facilitation of groups, services visiting the unit eg pet therapy. Gardening sessions - grow your own. Improvements. Goals. All depends on the type of service really. Remember to include your hashtags # good luck with it."
Ed (on the Hub's Twitter post): "I think the unexpected has been rather fab: There have been a few Tiktok videos that have done this. So may be a few, but not all of the time."
Fran (on the Hub's Twitter post):
"I’m trying to do exactly the same atm - just trying to think differently and keep posts varied - not sure if I am doing it right..." Autumn (on the Hub's Instagram page):
"Support and advice for newly qualified OTs starting out or returning the profession, including burnout and finding occupational balance while working!"
Lucy (on the Hub's LinkedIn page):
"I’d think about who are your audience on Twitter, and what goals you’d like to achieve? E.g. is it professionals or parents. This will (hopefully inform your content). Free feel to DM me if you’d like some support (free of course)."
Hope that helps!
Jamie
