Does anyone have experience or knowledge of Dandy Walker in adults?
I have a new client who hasn't been diagnosed but has historical notes mentioning cerebellum devopment issues. He is now in his 50's with poor gait, visual decline and fluctuations in his mood.
Hi @matthomewood. Just passing on some advice/feedback from Dorel (via LinkedIn):
"Based on the client symptoms, here are some helpful recommendations:
For gait training, encourage balance and coordination exercises at home, like standing on one foot or walking on uneven surfaces.
If there's visual decline, suggest simple exercises to maintain visual function, such as focusing on near/far objects or practicing eye movements.
To manage mood fluctuations, recommend strategies like deep breathing, meditation, or enjoyable activities.
Sensory activities like playing with different textures or using a weighted blanket can help regulate sensory input for clients with Dandy-Walker syndrome. Tailor your recommendations to their needs and abilities, and work with them to develop a comprehensive treatment plan after diagnosis."
Thanks for reaching out @matthomewood. We'll bring your forum to the attention of fellow Members in the coming week.
