How do you overcome writers block?

Hello OTians! 😄
Second-year OT student here!
When someone asks, “So… what exactly is Occupational Therapy?”—especially common people—how do you explain it without giving a full lecture? 😂
@keerthanaot2025 - Thanks for reaching out here; this is often the 'million dollar question' for our profession! Whilst others share their suggestions too, it would be worth you visiting our dedicated 'What is Occupational Therapy?' page:
This has plenty of ideas for you - from our FAQs, to infographics and videos shared by the global community... All the best with your studies!
Hi I’m an OT apprentice in my first year and was wondering if anyone could recommend any useful books for me to read please?
Hi Cheryl. Why don't you have a look around the -OT Books: Buy & Sell- section of the Therapy Forum?
These will all be books that clinicians have used along their occupational therapy journeys - and some are available for you to buy, if interested.
This YouTube channel was created when I was an OT student for my doctoral capstone project in the hopes to educate novice clinicians and new graduates in the area of splinting who may not have the background with it.
Research shows that new graduates do not have the adequate experience or background when it comes to fabricating splints for patients which is making these new grads unconfident with his/her orthotic fabrication skills.
This channel was designed to assist and provide guidance to these clinicians who may need extra guidance with step-by-step directions on how to fabricate different orthotic devices for the hand and upper extremity while also discussion indications, precautions, the purpose and type of splint required, etc.
Check out the link below as well as my Instagram page to see the training videos provided for you to help assist you in the clinic with your patients!
This video was created to assist those clinicians who are struggling with determining what type of orthosis to make for their patients or are having a difficult time determining what type of material to use when fabricating a splint for their patients.

Do you mind sharing if this relates to yourself @Cheryl Goldsmith? Perhaps finding putting words on paper difficult when doing a university module, or when writing course material? Either way, it would be worth exploring the nature of potential cause(s), to help problem-solve how to overcome it. For example, it may stem from one or a few of the following...
Cognition - e.g. difficulty understanding the material, a perfectionistic tendency, rigidity of thought
Affect/physiology - e.g. unrelated anxiety, stress, exhaustion, or other life factors (such as grief or hunger)
Motivation/behaviour - e.g. a fear of failure or criticism, lack of enjoyment in the subject material, procrastination, interruptions, a disrupted routine
