Psychodynamic Conceptual Models and Psychoanalytic Theories in OccupationalTherapy in MentalHealth

Hello,

We are conducting an international study on the use of the psychodynamic and psychoanalytic models in occupational therapy within mentalhealth.

Led by the Reflection Group on Occupational Therapy in Mental Health (Groupe de réflexion sur l'ergothérapie en santé mentale - GRESM) and Gaelle Charlot (french OT), this research aims to explore how these approaches are understood and applied across different countries and cultural contexts.

We have reached out to all member associations of the World Federation of Occupational Therapists, the members of The Occupational Therapy Hub, ant the OT on linkedin, and we are now seeking to gather additional perspectives.

If you are an occupational therapist working in mental health within the English-speaking community, your insights would be highly valuable. Please feel free to contact me to contribute to this work.

Every perspective matters in shaping a more comprehensive and global understanding.

psychodynamic conceptual model and psychoanalytic theories in occupational therapy practice in mental health.

Dear colleagues,

We are occupational therapists involved in the Mental Health Reflection Group of the French National Association of Occupational Therapists.

We are currently reflecting on the place of the psychodynamic conceptual model and psychoanalytic theories in occupational therapy practice in mental health. As practices and theoretical frameworks may vary greatly across countries, we would be very interested in learning more about your experiences and perspectives.

We would be grateful if you could share your thoughts on the following questions:

  1. Which conceptual models are most commonly used in occupational therapy practice in mental health in your country?

  2. Are psychodynamic models or psychoanalytic theories used in occupational therapy practice in your context?

I am currently conducting a global consultation on a specific line of inquiry related to occupational therapy practice.

As part of this initiative, I am reaching out to occupational therapy associations worldwide. I obtained your contact details through WFOT.

This consultation will contribute to a research project, and I would greatly appreciate your insights and perspectives on this topic.

Please feel free to respond at your convenience.

The findings will be shared in a scientific format (e.g., journal article or similar publication), and I will ensure that a summary of the results is communicated to participants.

Thank you very much for your time and valuable contribution.
