Therapy IN Nature or Nature AS therapy?

I'm taking aleap of faith, literally! Into becoming an OT using the modalities of nature based activity (the adventurous stuff) and therapy using nature (forest bathing, mindfulness, horticulture, immersion, meditations etc) for our wonderful cohort of people.

I have all the necessary certs and safety stuff to lead adventurous groups in nature and tonnes of years of sensory and mindfulness activities within nature part of therapy.

However, something is holding me back. How do I do this? I could apply for adventure therapy or forest bathing jobs however I feel ot may not be recognised clinically for such groups.

I would prefer to practice in a team of mh clinicians who offer nature based therapy alongside the more traditional interventions if that what our people need.

I'm aware of a few organisations focused on mh that employ outdoor activity staff but not clinicians.

Putting it out there for comment or discussion.

Greenly, Claire

If you haven’t already, it may be worth connecting with Bronwyn Paynter https://www.natureot.com.au

She helps OTs set up nature based businesses and services and has a group on Facebook where you can connect with others.
