Emigrating to Canada (Ontario) from the UK to work as an OT

Hi! So I’ve never used this platform before but seems like a great place to start to get in touch with fellow OTs for advice!

I am planning to emigrate to Toronto from the UK and work as an OT- has anyone else been through this process/familiar with it and can offer some much needed advice?? - -the dos/don’ts - SEAS- competency exams - the NOTCE - time frame-

or any other useful advice is more than welcome!

thank you!

Hi, i went through the process and it took me a couple of years, however, i have a colleague who also did it in a few months, so certainly don't be disheartened if it doesn't go smoothly. There are a few hurdles to jump through, some relevant and some less so. my advice would be to get as much of your information together as possible before, or as soon as they request. Regarding the NOTCE, i found it worth paying for the extra revision materials. Although it's all OT, you have to remember that students in Canada have covered slightly different material, a lot of the wording and health systems is slightly different. I didn't find it a breeze, but I did pass first time. Once you have it though, working over here is great and I would really recommend giving it a go. Good luck.
