About
I graduated in 2015 from the University of Cumbria with a bachelors degree in Occupational Therapy.
I have worked in learning disability services ever since, initially working in an in-patient forensic setting and then an integrated community team where I have been since 2016.
My special interests are:
Relationships and sexual health for people with learning disabilities (LD);
autism and LD;
sensory processing differences in people with LD;
mental health for people with LD.
As well as loving my job, I also love being a student educator. I really value the time I get to spend with people who are exploring Occupational Therapy. Using this time to enhance my own learning as well as sharing experiences and facilitating opportunities for students to get a genuine feel of what it is like to be a community LD OT.
Practice placement experiences were so valuable to me during my training and I vowed to pay this forward in my own career.
