About
The impact of injury sustained during sport can be multifactorial - affecting an individual's physical health, cognitive capacity and/or their psychological well-being. Athletes and sportspeople are at particular risk of more frequent or serious injury; the severity of impairments will often disrupt both personal and professional lives. Via specialist medical and therapeutic guidance, the role of rehabilitation therapists is critical in supporting this population to regain their former abilities, confidence levels and emotional resilience. In doing so, they have the potential to resume and excel - within sport and life in general. This short course explores the above themes, with a few examples of common and serious injuries. It focuses on an inter-professional approach to recovery, including the role played by Occupational Therapy (OT). Test and self-reflective sections consolidate your knowledge; a CPD certificate and Hub Badge then evidence it. Course author: Dr Madhuri Arora, General Physician, UAE. Course editor: Jamie Grant, Neurological Occupational Therapist, UK.
