Hii,
I’m in Year 13 (England) and I would LOVE to be an OT. I looked around a uni today and loved it (not sure if I’ll go there but made me certain on being an OT) and I was wondering if any recent (or not) graduates or students could give me advice on applying, personal statements and things to reference in my applications please? Like your top tips?!
I feel so stuck!!

Hi Maddy :)
I'm a second year MSc pre reg OT student, and I also have experience in health and social care work and recruitment :)
In your personal statement, definitely talk about what you as an individual person would bring to the role and profession and why you want to be an OT. One of the great things about OT is that we recognise and value the individual differences in people including our OTs. So what sort of hobbies (occupations) do you take part in, what are your academic/vocational strengths, do you have any work experience. But also talk about your life experiences, i.e. have you experienced any challenges or adversity in life and how have you overcome them?
I would also recommend demonstrating your understanding of Occupational therapy as we like to know that people know what we do. :) This doesn't mean buying and reading loads of books. But there are lots of resources online out there, including this one, which will help. And Youtube videos are a great resource, I found.
Anyway, I hope this helps?! Happy to chat more if you need anything :)
Best wishes,
Rianne
